Premise:
Preventative
maintenance of residential air conditioning units is
known to restore performance capacity, improve comfort
and lower energy costs.
Summary of Study:

capacity by 1/2 to 3/4 tons
- Improve
humidity control
- Reduce

All

energy costs
Good maintenance programs with residential
air conditioning is profitable for the homeowner. These
demonstrations showed an average savings of $32.76 /
month based on $.08/kwh. Run time was reduced by an
average of 1.70 hours per day. Even though it was not
included in the scope of this study preventative maintenance
extends the life of air conditioning equipment.
In
conclusion, air conditioning maintenance benefits the
consumer by lowering his operating costs, increasing
his comfort control capacity and extending the life
of the equipment.
Recommendation:
Data
collected and observations made during this series of
demonstrations implies strongly the need for preventative
maintenance. The economic payback will be highly beneficial
to the consumer.
