Our Process

Our Proven Process for Reliable AC Installation

Home Visit and System Sizing

We start by visiting your home and doing a full assessment of your space and existing system. Your technician will measure your home, evaluate your ductwork, and recommend the right size and model for your needs - before any work begins. In New Orleans' climate, proper sizing is critical to keeping your home comfortable and your energy bills in check.

Professional Installation

Our certified technicians remove your old unit and install your new system with precision. We handle all electrical connections, refrigerant charging, and ductwork adjustments to ensure everything is done to code and built to handle the demands of Louisiana summers.

Testing and Walkthrough

Before we leave, we test your new system to confirm it's cooling your home properly. We walk you through how everything works, share maintenance tips, and make sure you feel confident in your new investment heading into the New Orleans heat and humidity season.

Got questions? We’ve got answers!

Everything You Need to Know About AC Installation in New Orleans

How do I know if I need a new AC unit instead of a repair?

If your system is over 10-15 years old, requires frequent repairs, or is struggling to keep up with New Orleans’ heat and humidity, replacement is often the smarter investment. Our technicians will give you an honest assessment – we’ll never recommend a new unit if a repair makes more sense for your situation.

How long does an AC installation take?

Most standard residential installations are completed in a single day. Our team works efficiently and cleanly, so you’re not left without cooling any longer than necessary – especially important during New Orleans summers where the heat and humidity can make an uncomfortable home unbearable fast.

What size AC unit does my New Orleans home need?

Size depends on your home’s square footage, insulation, ceiling height, and sun exposure. In New Orleans, humidity adds an extra layer of complexity to proper sizing – an undersized or oversized unit will struggle and cost you more in the long run. That’s why we always do a proper load calculation before recommending a system.

What brands do you install?

Keefe’s installs top-rated, energy-efficient systems built for Louisiana’s demanding climate, including Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Carrier, and more. Our technicians will help you choose the right option based on your budget and comfort goals.

Do you service both central AC systems and mini-splits?

Yes – our technicians are experienced with all types of cooling systems, including central air and ductless mini splits. Whatever setup makes the most sense for your New Orleans home, Keefe’s has the expertise to install it right.

Is a mini split a good option for New Orleans homes?

Mini splits can be an excellent choice for New Orleans homeowners – especially for older homes, room additions, or areas of your home that are hard to cool with existing ductwork. Because they don’t require ducts, they’re highly efficient and give you precise control over the temperature in individual spaces. They also handle humidity particularly well, which is a major advantage in Louisiana. That said, they’re not the right fit for every situation. When you call Keefe’s, we’ll evaluate your home and let you know whether a mini split, a traditional central system, or a combination of both makes the most sense for your comfort and your budget.

Why should I choose Keefe's over other HVAC contractors?

Keefe’s has been serving New Orleans homeowners since 1979. We’re BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, voted a Top Workplace by the Times-Picayune, and backed by hundreds of five-star reviews from neighbors just like you. We show up on time, give you straight answers, and get the job done right the first time.
