How KITT Came to Be

In 1979, Keefe Ditta started what has grown and expanded into Keefe’s A/C, Heating & Electrical. The company began with just one truck and one technician – Keefe Ditta. By 2019, the growth and success of Keefe’s A/C, Heating & Electrical were in danger. The nationwide trend of older technicians leaving the industry created a need for new technicians that were fully equipped to fill the positions. For every new graduate of technical schools entering the HVAC trade, four seasoned techs were retiring. Not only did Keefe have to overcome the number of available technicians challenge, but he also had issues with the training of the new techs. Every program varied in quality, often providing technicians that were not prepared to enter the field. They also had the burden of being saddled with student debt which made it difficult for them to establish themselves despite earning more than most do when starting out in their chosen profession.

This lack of consistency in training and the need to fill positions sparked the idea of training his own technicians. So, Keefe created Keefe’s Institute of Technical Training or KITT. KITT is the solution that Keefe and his leadership team developed to properly train new technicians to enter the workforce with the knowledge and skills required to be successful. The intensive program is designed to be fully immersive, providing both theory and hands-on practical training to produce technicians who are ready to immediately begin their profession with confidence and capabilities.

KITT Director of Technical Development Dusty Rose, CM is an RSES Certified Mechanic with over 35 years of experience in the HVAC industry. Dusty brings more than just his wealth of knowledge and expertise to the students. His passion to educate and engage his students ensures they graduate with the skills and abilities to be quality technicians.

Who is a KITT candidate?

KITT candidates are ambitious and want to start working in 6-months, not 4 to 6 years, want to graduate without the added burden of student debt while trying to find a position in their chosen career, and who want to graduate with a full-time job guaranteed.

KITT students earn an income while in school, so they are making money while they train and graduate with no student debt. Upon graduation, our newly trained technicians have full-time employment at Keefe’s as they enter a stable, growing, and profitable career servicing the needs of the community.
